MagSolve


The Finite Element (FE) CAD Software, MagSolve, is an interactive suite of programs which allows the solution of 2-dimensional static magnetic field problems by the Finite Element Method. The programs include features for geometry input, automatic FE mesh generation, solution and analysis of the solution. The programs are written to run on UNIX / X-Windows systems. The binaries for these programs are available for linux-386i and Solaris 1 systems free. >

Features

The software is divided into three separate modules which perform the tasks of
Pre-processing
The pre-processor includes features such as dxf file import, automatic mesh generation, error analysis, and adaptive solution.
Processing
The processing involves the solution of the FE equations for the problem and mesh defined at the pre-processing stage. The solver routines will solve for 2 and 3 dimensional magnetostatic problems including the effects of iron saturation. Only the 2-dimensional solver is included in the MagSolve package. For an idea of the solution techniques used refer to the publications.
Post-processing
The post-processor includes the ability to view the solution in terms of fluxlines and flux densities, and calculate important quantities such as force and core loss.
